Youth & Commute

Become an everyday cyclist!

Youth & Commute is a project that aims to increase accessibility to bicycles by creating a structured and fun approach. We want to educate young people who have little knowledge about cycling and bicycle maintenance and motivate them to become daily bike users.

Youth & Commute

Youth & Commute  aims to increase the mobility of marginalized youth by promoting the use  of bicycles. With this project, we address green transport, mobility, road safety education and inclusion of marginalized youth.

The lack of accessibility to transport services and systems leads to social exclusion. Cycling offers target groups low-cost mobility, which is a prerequisite for social inclusion.

We want to increase the access to bicycles by creating a structured approach to working with marginalized youth to gain skills, knowledge, and motivation to become daily bicycle commuters. Through national research, we identified the causes and barriers that prevent our target groups, as well as local youth, from using bicycles. We have developed a program with results designed to address the shortcomings.

Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals and communities to embrace cycling as an integral part of their lives. We aim to foster a culture of cycling by providing resources, education, and support to cyclists of all levels, from beginners to seasoned riders.

Why should you be part of this project?

Unlike other sports activities, cycling is low-intensity. It is therefore accessible to everyone. Everyone can progress at their own pace according to their physical abilities and improve them over time. It is therefore an effective way to improve endurance. At the same time, coordination and balance are strengthened.

Cycling is a good cardio exercise. In addition to favourable cardiac activity, it improves breathing capacity. Cycling therefore helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases and is easy to learn.
